Hypnosis.
What's the first thing that comes to your mind?
A thief that uses mind control to steal your wallet? Or an evil villain wanting to mind-control the whole world using radio broadcasts? Or people on magic shows who make you quack like a duck?
That was my initial thinking about Hypnosis when I came across a YouTube video. It changed my whole perception.
Here's what happened.
Yesterday, I was scrolling through YouTube like a mindless buffoon when I came across a video of TED Talks titled Hypnotize Yourself by Dan Candell. He talked about some great points in the video, which led me to research more about Self-Hypnosis. And Here I am writing this blog post.
So why should YOU care about self-hypnosis?
In this article, you will learn:
- What is Self-Hypnosis?
- What are the benefits of Self-Hypnosis?
- How can you transform your life using Self-Hypnosis?
So let's get into the thick of it.
What is Self-Hypnosis?
Self-Hypnosis is a technique that has been practiced for centuries and is widely used to help people overcome their problems even today.
Self-hypnosis involves becoming highly focused and absorbed in the experience while giving yourself positive suggestions about ways to reach your goals.
For many, it's a way to tap into the power of the mind to induce positive changes in their lives and to overcome all negative emotions.
Note that, Self-Hypnosis and Meditation are fundamentally two
different things.
Unlike
Meditation, Self-hypnosis has no negative effects. It's a natural, safe, and highly effective way to improve one's life.
Benefits of Self-Hypnosis
Self-Hypnosis has many potential benefits. Some of which I will mention:
- Enhancing Productivity: Self-hypnosis can help increase productivity by decreasing stress and increasing focus and motivation.
- Overcoming Phobias: Self-hypnosis can be used to overcome phobias like fear of heights, spiders, or public speaking. It can be used to desensitize someone into feeling fear.
- Reducing Stress: By using self-hypnosis techniques, individuals can promote relaxation and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.
- Improving Sleep: Self-hypnosis can promote relaxation and help individuals to fall asleep faster and sleep more deeply.
- Breaking Bad Habits (See what I did there): Self-hypnosis can be used to overcome bad habits, such as smoking or overeating. By using self-hypnosis techniques, individuals can change their behavior and create new habits.
Tips and Techniques for You to Hypnotize Your Way to a Better Life
Now that you have a good bit of info on what self-hypnosis is all about. I'll inform you of the tips and techniques that you can use to hypnotize your way to a better life.
So buckle up. Here comes the juicy part (don't quote me):
Get Comfortable
Before inducing a hypnotic state, you have to be comfortable with yourself. Find a comfy place to sit or lie down. Make sure that your body can get relaxed there. Find a quiet room in your house or a comfortable space outside.
Don't worry. It isn't dangerous. You're just telling your mind to stop focusing on pointless matters and focus on the real deal.
Make sure that you don't get disturbed as it would make you lose all the concentration that you have mustered.
Define Your Goal and Clarify Your Focus
Before getting into the nitty-gritty of things, define your goal first.
What do you want to achieve from this session?
For instance, it could be that:
- You want to get good grades on your exam.
- You want to reduce stress.
- You want to brush up on your confidence.
- You want to win a football (soccer for you Americans out there) match.
- You want to complete a task efficiently and on time.
You get the point. Right? Ok.
After that, re-think the goal in your mind a couple of times in order to clarify your focus.
Now Hypnotize Yourself
I am going to divide this step into two parts to make it clear:
Get Yourself in a Relaxed Position
Use relaxation techniques to enter the hypnotic state. It could be:
I will be focusing on the deep breathing technique:
- Inhale slowly through your nose until your lungs get filled with air.
- Hold your breath for 10-15 seconds.
- Exhale slowly through your mouth until all the air gets released into the atmosphere.
- Repeat the steps a few times until you completely loosen up.
Address the Goals in Your Mind
Once you are in a relaxed and focused state of mind, create positive affirmations that reinforce the goal in your mind.
Probably the most effective way to do that is through visual imagery.
Visualize how you would achieve your goal, and create a movie in your mind defining how you would accomplish your goal.
Let's say you are going for a job interview. Imagine yourself going into the interview room, with your head held up high, your posture set straight, and a smile on your face. The interview goes exceptionally well and you end up getting the job.
If you have negative emotions, visualize those emotions as objects and imagine throwing them into the trash can.
After you've visualized your goal, you can return to your usual level of alertness or repeat the process again.
Have Patience and Persistence.
As with most of the difficult things in life, Patience is the key.
You may not see any results in the initial few days. But consistency should be your motto when practicing self-hypnosis. Be persistent and it won't be long enough until you see improvements in your life.
Conclusions and Reaffirmations
To conclude, if you're looking to make positive changes in your life, then you might want to give, self-hypnosis a try. It is a technique that has been in practice for centuries and is a natural, safe, and highly effective way to win in life. It involves becoming highly focused and absorbed in the experience while giving yourself positive suggestions about ways to reach your goals. Self-Hypnosis is a great way to tap into the power of your mind, be more productive and overcome negative emotions, so you can live your best life.
